Building Guidana: a full social learning marketplace from scratch.

From architecture to app store: an 18-month engagement to build a multi-platform course marketplace with live sessions, community features, and integrated payments.

What Guidana needed to be.

Guidana set out to build a social learning marketplace — a platform where educators could create and sell courses, host live sessions, and build communities around their content, while learners could discover, purchase, and engage with that content across web and mobile.

The product scope was substantial from day one: course creation with rich media content, a live session system, community and social features, integrated Stripe payments with instructor payouts, and native applications for iOS and Android alongside the web platform. The client needed a team that could own the full product engineering — architecture, backend, web frontend, and both mobile platforms — from initial design through to production launch.

Building a multi-platform product from zero.

Devsort architected and built the Guidana platform across an 18-month engagement, covering the full technical stack: backend API, web application, iOS app, and Android app. The architecture was designed for the concurrent use patterns of a marketplace — simultaneous course streaming, live session traffic, and community activity — with a data model that kept creator, learner, content, and transaction concerns cleanly separated.

Payments and payouts required particular care. Stripe Connect was used to enable direct instructor payouts with platform fee collection, handling the split payment model that marketplaces require. The payout flow was tested extensively to ensure that refund, dispute, and partial-payout scenarios were handled correctly before any real transactions were processed.

The mobile apps were built natively — Swift for iOS, Kotlin for Android — to meet the performance and platform integration requirements for video playback and live sessions. A shared API layer ensured consistent behaviour across platforms without the overhead of a cross-platform framework.

What shipped.

The Guidana platform launched with the full feature set: course creation and publishing, live session hosting, community features, and Stripe-integrated payments with instructor payouts. Web, iOS, and Android applications all shipped from the same engagement.

The engagement demonstrated Devsort's ability to own the full product engineering lifecycle on a complex consumer platform — from architecture decisions through to app store submissions — over an 18-month timeline.
